Emilio Tenuta joined Ecolab in 1984 and is responsible for linking the company’s marketing strategy with sustainable solutions for its more than 1 million customers in over 170 countries.
During the last five years, he has mapped out Ecolab’s sustainability journey, which consists of a plan to reduce its own environmental footprint while helping its customers reach their own sustainability goals as well.
Tenuta is particularly interested in the areas of reducing energy, water and other natural resource consumption, as well as working with nongovernmental organizations, or NGOs, to better manage water and energy risks affecting the industrial sector. To that end, he has forged strong partnerships with the World Wildlife Fund, Alliance for Water Stewardship, UN-CEO Water Mandate and the World Economic Forum during the last two years.
A native of Naperville, Ill., Tenuta holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a master’s degree in business from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
