Measure Waste Spending

You can't manage what you don't measure. Take some time to understand what you're spending on waste disposal.

Log your waste bills in a simple spreadsheet or application to record and compare waste-hauling expenditures over time, whether weekly or monthly. It doesn't have to take long. Start documenting your fees this month and just keep logging it to see your trends over time.

Tracking your spending helps you:

  • determine if you are billed accurately for the services you require.
  • define your operation's waste stream.
  • create a waste-reduction action plan.
